Book Review – New London Style

16 Sep

I love this book. It’s full of gorgeous photographs from a selection of houses in London, grouped by postcode. The houses are certainly aspirational rather than affordable. Many are owned by people you might have heard of: fashion designer Matthew Williamson, model Erin O’Connor. All are certainly not short of money and many pieces and architectural features have been specially commissioned. It’s very difficult to do that on a shoestring budget! But, many have scoured London for vintage finds or altered pieces of furniture they already have or that have been passed down through the family. And it’s also about being a bit bold and thinking differently. This is the sort of inspiration I’m taking from this book and it looks beautiful on my coffee table.

Some of my favourite houses in the book are…

Lisa Whatmough, Hackney E9

Jo Berryman, Hampstead NW3

Tracy Boyd, Chelsea SW3

Sam Robinson, Notting Hill W11

A nice idea from Sam Robinson – frame a favourite shirt for the wall.
